I mentioned in a previous post that I want to start blogging more regularly, and more often. In order to help the procrastinator spirit that unfortunatly has found it’s way ingrained into my being, I have decided to make weekly columns, so-to-speak. I will have weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly topics that will keep me on top of things, and hopefully help you to get to know me a bit more. So today is the start of a column entitled, Monday Musings. This is going to be a kind of open topic. It could be things I have been thinking about, things I did during the last week, photography related goodness, or maybe something I found inspirational. So here it goes.

As we all know yesterday was Valentines Day. Some people hate it, some people love it, and some people just want an excuse to gorge themselves on chocolate. Myself, I think that I fall somewhere in between the last two. I enjoyed yesterday, a lot. My wonderful husband got me a box of chocolate, which I have already started to make a sizeable dent in (those chocolate truffles don’t have a chance against me), we went on a little date, and he made me pancakes in the morning. But the reason that I like Valentines isn’t because of these things.
I like it because people are reminded of love. It is a holiday that celebrates love, and I like that. Love is something to be celebrated.
It could be celebrated with boxes of chocolate, or flowers, but I think it could (and I think should) be celebrated by an extra kiss, by telling that special someone how much you love them, and what it is about them that you love so much, or calling your parents and friends and letting them know how much you care. It could be celebrated by waking up early and making a pot of coffee, or doing the dishes, or sending a text message randomly just to say I love you. It could be celebrated in so many different ways.
And it doesn’t just need to to happen on February 14th, Love could be celebrated everyday, and I think that if it was, it might make the world a little better.
I like Valentines day. It reminds people to celebrate love. And maybe, just maybe it can remind people to love more on everyday of the year.
As a wise man once said,
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
