A Few of My Favorite Things #2

I haven’t been keeping up with my personalesque blogging recently as much as I should.  I’ve gotten pretty busy lately with photo shoots, and editing that my blog has taken the back seat.  But in an effort to keep my New Years business resolution, I am going to blog today more about me.  I guess in a way that seems kind of narcissistic or selfish, but what I hope to acomplish through this is allowing people who read this(whoever you are) to get to know me a little more.  To see a little about what make me tick so to speak.  So here is a glimpse into what makes me smile.

1) Spring – In my last post I mentioned how I felt Spring coming, and that made me so excited.  Well, know it is here.  It is full-fledged, birds singing, flowers growing, trees greening Spring.  And I don’t think that I could be any happier.  Spring is by far my favorite season.  It is similar in temperature to Fall, but in Spring you know that life and vitality is coming, not Winter.  There is so much symbolism to the earth waking up from it’s slumber, and new life coming.  It reminds of the creative and beautiful God we love and serve like nothing else.  I love it!

this is just an outtake from a recent photo shoot.  i love going outside for photo shoots with families and brides!

2) My Garden – I am realzing that a lot of my favorite things from last time are just growing and expanding.  Last time I wrote about growing my own plants on my window sill.  Well now I have a full fledged garden!  I love it.  I love going out there and checking on them, and seeing things grow.  It is a miracle to me to watch things grow from little seeds to full on plants.  This year I only planted peas and onions from seeds, the rest were seedlings.  But the onions and peas are doing great!  They are peaking up out of the dirt and letting their green leaves reach towards the sun.  The other plants are doing quite well also.  It is kind of funny because I think I am taking care of these plants like they are my own.  I mean, I don’t have a pet, or a child to take care of, so I am putting my caring instinct all on these plants.  I hope they feel loved :)  Anyway, it is just a lot of fun, and I can’t wait till the first “harvest” when I can go get some veggies to put on the table!

it may not look like much now, but i love it!

3) The movie Home . It is a movie about the Earth, and taking care of it.   It is a suburbly filmed and made documentary with breaktaking imagery.  It was directed by a photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and he did a wonderful job.  It just reminded me to do what I can to be a good steward of this created earth, even as an act of worship.

4)Susan Stripling – This is a photographer whose work is really inspiring to me. It is clean and beautiful.  Each image looks like a work of art to me.  She also has this really neat thing called a Think Book that I recently purchased.  It gives you an in depth look at how she creates her images, and really what goes into a wedding day for her.  It is very informative and inspiring.

Okay, well that is all for now.  Photos are calling my name to be edited.  Thanks for reading!
