Stephanie Lyell Photography » Photojournalism http://stephanielyell.com/blog Lexington and Wilmore Wedding and Family Photographer Fri, 03 Feb 2012 19:48:07 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.2.1 Circus http://stephanielyell.com/blog/2011/03/22/circus/ http://stephanielyell.com/blog/2011/03/22/circus/#comments Tue, 22 Mar 2011 22:05:42 +0000 Stephanie http://stephanielyell.com/blog/?p=6150 Last Wednesday I got a call from Melanie Pace at Loft 3 photography.  Melanie and her husband Adam run the business and are just incredible photographers, and awesome people.  Anyway…I got a call, actually a text, asking if I could shoot with her tomorrow at the Circus for a group called the Dragonfly Foundation.  Sometimes I am not as spontaneous as I would like to think I am.  My first reaction was that had a whole day of blog looking and coffee drinking scheduled, along with a little Rusty cuddling.  In other words, nothing.  It sounded fun, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to driving up to Cincinnati, getting out, off my rear and actually doing something.  Once I realized that I had no reason not to go, and every reason to go (doing what I love, hanging out with a cool girl, doing something nice for others, and seeing a freaking circus), I decided I definitely had to go.  So I said yes and get all my gear ready for a night of peanuts, elephants, and acrobats.

And let me tell you.  I am so glad that I went.  Not only was it awesome because it was my first time to the Circus in like 15 years (and it was the REAL Circus-Ringling Bros), but seeing the kids from the Dragonfly Foundation there having fun, laughing, and staring in awe at the miraculous feats of the various performers warmed my heart.

And now for a few photos of my time at the Circus :) The Dragonfly Foundation went out in the beginning of the Circus.  This sweet little girl went out as well and both were guest Ringmasters for the evening :)The show and the performers were simply amazing.  I just can’t believe people can do these things, it’s incredible.We actually weren’t seated with kids from Dragonfly, but happened to be seated right next to this sweet little boy and his mom.  It’s so fun to see a child watch a circus :)These guys were pretty rad.And that was my night at the Circus!

I am just posting a couple more photos of just my life. Here and there and around. I have been having a lot of time to do photos like this, which has been really nice. I like the feeling. I am working of getting a new story going, a personal project or something of the like here soon. I have a couple ideas swimming around in my head, but nothing concrete yet.
