Peg and Rick are two incredible people. They have been married for 25 years and are still so in love. I know Peg through the Seminary. I actually took a class with her about Women’s Spiritual Formation – she had so much knowledge, so much beauty to add to the group. She is a wise woman and I have much respect for her. So getting to spend some time with her and husband Rick when was a treat for me. The laughter and love-filled shoot all took place at their house. It’s an amazing home, which they open up as a retreat center for people who need it. It is surrounded by beautiful land and nestled in a sweet little neighborhood here in Wilmore. It’s incredible how giving and hospitable they are. After the shoot she offered me water and peanuts, a beautiful view of the sunset, and wonderful conversation.

I have to say – this was one of my favorite shoots of the year because I felt like I learned so much about love and life and marriage and some things in between. Thanks Peg and Rick for sharing an evening with me, it blessed me so much!

Jessica and Jonas Hamilton are cool. That’s just about all I have to say about them. I mean I really really just like them. They are cute, in love, they are funny, and they are good friends. PLUS they have the exact same anniversary as us, June 27, 2009. If that doesn’t make them completely awesome, I don’t know what does. But in all seriousness, I really enjoyed taking photos of these two Wilmore friends. It’s always kind of fun to take photos of friends who you know outside of photo shoots. It’s kind of like you get to see their relationship and their lives, and then get to document that. Pretty cool. They have a lot of fun together…laughing often and a lot. I love that.Contentment, happiness and love rolled up in one :)Thanks you two! You are seriously the definition of awesomeness,

Let me start off by asking you a question. Do you like good, healthy, tasty, home-made granola? (hint: the only correct answer is yes:)) If so than you need to try out Marlowe Granola. It is a family business that was born right out of a family kitchen here in Kentucky. For years the Marlowe family enjoyed this wonderful granola made with love by Mama Marlowe. It was perfected over time and the family has always adored Mom’s special recipe. But just recently have they realized that other people might enjoy this delectable goodness, and that there is a market out there for people who want just what they have- a healthy AND tasty granola. And let me be the first to tell you, it is soooo good. I think I could eat a whole truckload of it.

So a few weeks ago I went out to the Marlowe residence and met the whole crew for a photo shoot. I already knew Susannah through photography (she is an excellent photographer and an awesome girl), and it was such a pleasure to meet the rest of the family. They were all so kind and friendly and had so much fun with each other. It was obvious that there is a lot of love in the family. So enjoy the photos and if you want some tasty, handmade, healthy granola, head over to Marlowe Granola and get yourself a bag! Mmmmmm….so yummy :)I love these shots…they make me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy.Thanks Marlowe family for letting me meet your family and try some of your yummy granola…you’ve made us Granola snobs here at the Lyell home :)

On a beautiful day in June, Nattaya, Hannah, and I treked out to Shaker Village in Kentucky together. We were on a mission, to take beautiful photos and have fun. I think we did both!

Nattaya contacted me several months ago, to set up a shoot to document some of her life here in America. She is from Thailand and for the past several years was a student at Asbury Seminary. But unfortunately for all of us here in Wilmore (and fortunately for all her family and friends back in Thailand), she will be going back home next week!! So before she left, she wanted to get some photos of her and one of her best friends around the pastoral Kentucky countryside. We visited wild flower fields, corn fields, old barns, and ended up at her home away from home here in Wilmore. I think it was a success, and we had such a good time. I think we spent a good 75% of the time laughing and giggling….something I’ve learned that Nattaya tends to bring that out in people :) Thanks Nattaya! It was so wonderful getting to know you and I wish you all the best!
